Ayer, fuimos en un tour de Oviedo. Esta catedral, fue una de las paradas. ¡Hemos sido capaces de ir en la catedral y fue tan bonito dentro! Me muy triste que no podíamos tomar fotos. ¡Espero que visitaría nuevo que tengo tiempo!

El Parque

Hola. ¡Ha sido un confusa tres días hasta ahora! Es muy difícil para me adapto a la cultura española, pero he tenido algunos momentos divertidos hasta la fecha. El martes pasado, mi amiga y yo fuimos al parque para Martes de Campo. Lo encontramos fácilmente porque la mamá de mi amiga nos ayudó. ¡Cuando llegamos allí, es muy concurrido en el parque! Caminamos y compré una camisa para mi hermano. También, compré cinco pulseras para mis hermanas y mi madre. Después comimos bocadillos en el parque. nos sentamos en la hierba y hablamos por un rato. Después salimos del parque y compré helado. ¡Chocolate con avellanas! Fue muy expensivo pero muy bueno. Caminamos a casa después. Mi amiga y yo vivimos cerca así que podimos caminar juntas. Me alegro por ello.

First Entry- Pre Oviedo

I am very excited to travel to Spain. I think living with a family who doesn’t speak English will be an amazing experience. I know that it will be hard to be away from my family and the American culture I am so used to. I will have to adapt to not having the convenience of a car and the helpfulness of a cell phone for five weeks and it will be very different for me. I hope my host family is patient and helps me to become a better Spanish speaker. Recently, I have been listening to the Spanish radio and can barely pick up anything that is being said. All I hear is gibberish with a few words in between that I can decipher like “tengo” or “estoy” but by the time I’ve figured these words out, the topic has completely changed! I think this will be one of my biggest challenges in Spain because I will need to think about what is being said before I can understand it. My biggest fear is that I won’t be able to understand my host family and that they won’t be very helpful or understanding. But no matter what the challenges are, I think I will improve my Spanish skills greatly while in Spain and hopefully have fun along the way. I am so excited to try the exotic food, see the new places, and experience such a different culture from the one I’m used to. What an adventure this will be!
